The Kabale Grade One Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a 25 year old man to six month imprisonment over theft and robbery.
Prosecution told court that was presided over by the Grade One Magistrate, her worship Stella Mwari that on 26th February this year, while at Kagunga cell in Ikumba sub county, Rubanda District, Francis Mujuni broke into Ronald Tubenawe’s shop and stole one hundred kilograms of beans, 100 kilograms of ground nuts and 30 kilograms of peas. Mujuni pleaded guilty and requested for a less punishment.
In her verdict, her worship Mwari expressed concern on rampant case of robbery and theft in Rubanda district. She however considered the convict’s request and sentenced him to six month in prison.
She also ordered the convict to pay 500,000 shillings to Tubenawe as compensation, immediately after serving the sentence.
