The Vice Chancellor Uganda Christian University, Rev. Canon Dr.John Senyonyi has asked the government to reduce operational taxation charged on private Universities, so that they are easily enabled to develop.
Ssenyonyi made this call while speaking during the 7th part of the 18th Graduation ceremony of 136 students at Bishop Barham University College, a constituent college of Uganda Christian University Mukono, a function that was held yesterday March 16 at the College Multipurpose Hall at Rugarama hill, in Kabale Municipality.
Ssenyonyi said that though the Church of Uganda established various education institutions to give a hand to government, they are struggling to progress due to highly taxes levied on them.
Speaking at the same function, the Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Andrew Aja Baryayanga, promised to table a bill before parliament to have the taxes scrapped off from private institutions.
