Kabale H/T arrested for blocking P.7 pupil from exams over Shs70,000 coaching fee

Police in Kabale District have today arrested the Head Teacher of Rwababa Primary School in Kyanamira Sub County, Drake Kisheija after he allegedly denied a Primary Seven candidate an opportunity to sit for the Primary Leaving Examination due to an outstanding 70,000 Shillings coaching fee.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, said Kisheija, who is also the Director of Kabale Universal Nursery and Primary School, was arrested following a complaint lodged at Kabale Central Police Station by the victim’s older brother, Gerald Esau Natuhumuza.

Natuhumuza alleged that the candidate was denied entry to the examination room to sit the Mathematics paper because he had not paid a coaching fee, during the recent industrial action by Arts teachers who were demanding a salary enhancement. Upon his arrest, Kisheija claimed that the candidate was not at school until police brought him, at which point the morning Mathematics paper was ending.

Maate added that investigations are ongoing and will determine the next course of action.
