Kigezi province has this evening been defeated by Acholi province, by one goal to nil in the ongoing Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA the drum tournament. The match was played at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
Acholi’ only goal was scored by Hudu Mulikye in the 21st minute, after Kigezi region’s goal keeper, Alex Matsiko Kamashaza, miscalculated the ball from a free kick, before it found the back of the net. The players struggled to pass the ball throughout the whole match, since the stadium was filled with water, because of the consistent rains that have hit Kabale town for the last three days.
Speaking to our reporter after the match, the Acholi province team manager, Geoffrey Akena, attributed the win to teamwork, resilience and hard work by players, coupled with passion f their supporters.
In other matches, Buganda province was defeated by Lango province by three goals to one, Kampala province defeated Rwenzori province by three to one, while the match between Busoga and Teso ended goalless.
