The head teacher of Nyabitabo Primary School in Kaharo sub county Kabale district, Enock Twinomugisha is on the run for allegedly embezzling two million shillings, meant to facilitate the multi-sectoral food security and nutrition project.
According to the Kabale district Chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa, Twinomugisha withdrew the money from the school’s bank account in third term 2017, without any knowledge from the school management committee, community facilitators,Village Health Teams and lead farmers.
Keihwa also says that district officials have already reported the matter at Kabale police station to make sure that Twinomugisha is arrested and answer the charges accordingly.
The six-year project worth 10 Billion shillings is funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security under the supervision of the World Bank and it is being implemented in 15 districts in Uganda.
The project involves setting up school gardens in primary schools across the district growing African indigenous foods, vegetables, peas and pumpkins among others.
