The Kabale district youth livelihood focal person, Moses Akampurira is on the spot for withholding 120 million shillings youth livelihood fund. Late last year, Ministry of Gender, Labor and social development released the funds to benefit youth groups in Kabale district. On 8th January this year, the 20 youth groups were trained but they have waited for funds in vain.
According to the Kabira youth dry produce handling group Chairperson in Kyanamira Sub County, Vianney Rukundo and his Nkombe youth brick making group counterpart in Kitumba Sub County, Denis Mutaremwa, their projects have stagnated, due to delayed funding.
The Kabale district youth Chairperson, John Bosco Namara, acknowledged that his office has received complaints from the intended beneficiaries, adding that that he has not received any explanation from Akampurira despite his continuous inquiries.
The Secretary Kabale district youth council, Christmas Turyomurugyendo, says that they have given Akampurira, a two days ultimatum to release the funds or they organize the intended beneficiaries for a peaceful demonstration.
The Kabale district youth livelihood focal person, Moses Akampurira, said that they have not released funds, because some youth groups that delayed that to open up bank accounts where the money could be deposited. He promised to release the money tomorrow.
