Students at Kabale technical Institute have today staged a peaceful demonstration and matched to the office of Resident district Commissioner, Darius Nandinda and district LC5 Chairman, Patrick
Besigye Keihwa, accusing the administration of violating a fees payment agreement and mal administration.
The demonstration started, when the deputy Principal identified, Emmanuel Turyahabwe, ordered students with fees balances to go home to collect the fees balances. The students protested the matter, saying that it was unfair to be sent back home, yet they have only spent weeks at the institute. The students also accused the administration of bleaching the agreement they made with their parents that a
student, who pays at least 50% of the fees, should be allowed to study for a month.
The RDC Darius Nandinda, who addressed the students at his office, requested them to go back to the institute and promised to meet with their administrator to find a lasting solution for their problems.
However, the Kabale technical Institute Principal, Francis Tibamanya, denied the allegations, adding that they decided to send students home to collect their fees balances, because the institute is in a financial crisis. He added that some students have a tendency of defaulting fees, especially, when they start doing their final exams.
