Makerere University has suspended, Dr Swizen Kyomuhendo, a senior lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration-SWASA on allegations of Sexual Harassment.
The suspension was sanctioned by Makerere University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, saying it will allow smooth investigations into allegations labelled against him. The University Senior Publicist, Ritah Namisango says that Prof. Nawangwe has also set up an Investigation Committee to handle the matter at hand. She, however, says that the names of the investigation Committee members are withheld, given the sensitivity of the matter.
Dr Kyomuhendo was accused of sexually exploiting female students in exchange for marks. In the story, that first aired on NBS television, the lecturer is seen enticing one of his students to a lodge to have some fun. The victim claimed that the lecturer had promised to adjust her marks if she ‘cooperated.
