Lands Minister, Persis Namuganza has treated with contempt a plan by Busoga Parliamentary Caucus to stop her from entering Busoga region.
Sitting in the Government chief whip’s Boardroom at Parliament on Friday, legislators from Busoga resolved to eject Namuganza the Member of Parliament for Bukono County from their caucus as well as block her from going to Busoga. The decision by legislators came after summoning her to appear before the committee to respond to allegations levied against her, which include among others threatening to kill Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, making unflattering comments against Basoga and undermining the Kyabazinga or king’s authority.
However speaking to journalists yesterday, Namuganza said that the move by the legislators whom she called “tools”,to block her from going to her constituency is unconstitutional, laughable, unfortunate and embarrassing. According to Namuganza, the legislators are, a tool being used by somebody, arguing that the whole plot of reaching a decision in absence of a complainant and the accused proves that.
