Pregnant mothers demand fencing of the maternity ward for privacy

Pregnant mothers, who deliver at Rubaya Health Centre IV in Lyakarimira Town Council of Kabale district, want authorities at the health centre to fence the maternity ward to provide privacy for
expectant mothers.

The women, who include, Enid Nabaasa and Enid Andindire, raised the concern yesterday, while speaking during a community dialogue that was organized by Advocacy for Better Health at Kibuga Church of Uganda in Kabale district. Advocacy for Better Health is a United States Agency for International Development five-year, project aimed at improving the availability, accessibility, and quality of health and social services in Uganda implemented by PATH.

The Ndorwa West County Health Sub district in charge, William Kwesiga, admitted that women who deliver at the facility do not have privacy.

He however says that they have already written to Lyakarimira Town Council and Kabale district authorities to support the facility to fence it.

Rubaya Health Centre IV receives between 20 to 30mothers every month.
