The body of the Rutooma parish Priest in Rukungiri district Rev. Fr. Thomas Batiima was yesterday laid to rest at Kabale diocese cemetery in Kabale Municipality.
Speaking during a requiem Mass at Rushoroza Cathedral that was presided over by the Kabale diocesan Vicar General Monsignor Silverio Twinomugisha, the Makiro parish priest in Kanungu district, Rev. Fr.
Adrian Byomuhangi described Fr. Batiima as a committed and a hardworking servant of God who was like a father to all Christians.
The Executive director of Uganda National research Institute, Prof. Charles Kwesiga, who represented the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Livingstone Rugunda, commended Fr Batiima, for
being an influential, dedicated and determined clergy, who inspired many Catholics to love their religion. The Ndorwa East Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba said that the death of Fr. Batiima was a blow to the Catholic Church.
Born in Kabura village in Muyumbu parish in Kyanamira sub county Kabale district, Rev. Fr. Thomas Batiima, started his priesthood in 2010, as the Rubanda parish before he was transferred to Rutooma parish. He succumbed to Liver failure at the age of 37years at Masaka
