The Kabale District Deputy Speaker, John Paul Ahabwe, has asked security officials to improve on security in Rushaki ward of Southern Division in Kabale Municipality, in order to avert the increased crime rate in the area.
Ahabwe, who is also the area district councilor, says that they report over seven cases of robbery, every week at Kabale Central police station. He however blames the police for the rising insecurity and crimes in the area saying that whenever habitual criminals are arrested, they are released from detention before they appear before the courts of law.
His comment today morning, follow an incident in which the former Local Council IV female councilor for Rushaki and Mwanjari wards in Southern Division, Allen Tusiime, was last evening murdered by unknown assailants.
Tusiime’s body, who is a resident of Nyamabare cell in Rushaki ward, was last evening at around 8:30pm, found lying naked in a tree plantation, a few meters to her home.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, says that they police have launched a manhunt for the assailants, so that they are charged accordingly. The Case was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under file number SD 12/23/04/2018
