Police in Rukiga District is hunting for unidentified thugs, who raided St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Kamwezi in Rukiga District and stole Church property worth millions of shillings.
The thugs broke into the Church on Sunday night and stole a sound amplifier and a Piano worth 2.5 million shillings and surplices among others.
According to the Archdeacon of St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda, Ven. Ernest Nkwasibwe, they came to know about the incident in the morning on Monday 12 March, when they opened the Church for lent prayers.
Ven. Nkwasibwe says that a team of detectives from Rukiga Police Station visited the Church with a sniffer dog but failed to get the suspects.
The Rukiga District Police Commander, Milton Bwambale, says investigations are ongoing.
Last Sunday, unknown thugs also raided Ryabirengye Church of Uganda in Bukinda Sub County and Emmanuel Church of Uganda in Muhanga Town Council where they stole music systems.
