Ugandan manufacturers outcry over imported fake products flooding Uganda market

Ugandan manufacturers have reported Uganda government to an international standard-setting body, on the imported fake products flooding Uganda market and causing unfair trade among traders and
manufacturers.

This was revealed by the secretary General of the International Organization for Standardization, Sergio Mujica, while was meeting the manufacturers and officials from Uganda National Bureau standards at Sheraton Kampala hotel, to hear their views regarding measures and requirements of certification and quality assurance. The quality Assurance manager at Britania, Caroline Night said that the government needs to ensure that local companies get fair trade by eliminating imported substandard goods from the market.

The ‎Business Development Manager at Roofings limited, Stuart Jason Mwesigwa blamed Ugandans for the existing substandard goods on market since they more prefer imported goods, despite of them lacking quality than locally manufactured products.
