Water shortage affects Kabale Municipality Health Centre II

Kabale Municipality Health Centre II is struggling to cope up with a water crisis, after it was disconnected by National Water and Sewerage Corporation, over accumulated bills amounting to over one million
shillings.

According to the health workers, the health centre was disconnected two months ago for failing to clear outstanding bills from January this year. They claim that they informed the municipality authorities about the matter but nothing has been done. A health worker who preferred anonymity told our reporter that they currently spend 500shillings on a jerrican of water daily to use to the flash toilet.

The Municipality Health Inspector, Andrew Beija, said that they have cleared the bills and the health centre will be reconnected very soon.

Efforts to get a comment from the National Water and Sewerage Corporation Kabale Branch Manager, Lenny Otai were futile, as as he could not answer or return our reporter’ calls.
