Water Crisis Hits Nyarurambi Ward

A section of local leaders and residents in Nyarurambi Ward, Rubanda Town Council in Rubanda District, has raised concerns about the shortage of clean and safe water in the area.

They expressed the concern yesterday at Rutooga Village and Nyarurambi Triangle in Kamuseegwa Village, during a meeting organized by the Commissioner of Parliament and Rubanda District Woman MP, Prosy Akampurira Mbabazi, to sensitize women on her new project dubbed “Prosperous Women Rubanda (PWR), which aims at improving the quality of life for women in the district.

The Rutooga Village Chairperson, Ephraim Tumuheirwe, and his counterpart of Kamuseegwa Village, Medard Kiconco, Innocent Tusingwire, Gad Muhwezi, and Kellen Mugisha, among others said that they have spent about two years without access to clean and safe water, after majority of their water sources such as taps were destroyed by floods.

They added that they currently trek more than two kilometers or pay about 500 to 2,000 Shillings to access clean water from the neighboring areas.
