Historic Renovation Underway at Itojo Hospital After 60+ Years
The Ministry of Health and Ntungamo District Local Government have officially launched renovation works at Itojo Hospital, marking the first major facelift since its construction in 1964.
Speaking during the launch yesterday, the Ntungamo District LCV Chairperson, Samuel Mucunguzi, emphasized that the renovation marks the first significant upgrade since the hospital’s establishment.
A total of 4 billion shillings will be allocated for the renovation, which will take place in two phases.
The first phase, with a budget of 1.48 billion shillings, will focus on improving key hospital facilities such as the Pediatrics and Male wards, procurement of a new hospital generator as well as major upgrades to the main theater and key sewage facilities.
The Ministry of Health Engineer, Alfred Nabaasa urged the district leadership to ensure proper supervision of the project for its successful completion.
