Police Hunt Mob Over Lynching of Man Accused of Killing Wife
Police in Kanungu District are hunting for a mob that lynched a 25-year-old man yesterday after he allegedly hacked his wife to death during a domestic dispute.
The deceased was identified as Aaron Akandinda, a resident of Kakyenke Cell, Bihomborwa Ward in Kihihi Town Council, who allegedly murdered his 20-year-old wife, Doreen Kirabo. According to police, Akandinda reportedly killed his wife after she spent the night away from home visiting her sick parents.
The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, said that Akandinda struck his wife on the head with an axe, killing her instantly. Tumushime advised the public to resolve conflicts through legal channels, noting that efforts to arrest those who participated in the mob are ongoing.
