Minister Magyezi Approves Kabale Parish Boundary Changes
The Minister for Local Government, Rafael Magyezi, has approved the alignment of boundaries of Bukora, wendo and Bwama Island parishes in Kitumba Sub County of Kabale District.
In his letter dated 28th January 2025, addressed to different district stakeholders, the Electoral Commission and the Executive Director of Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Magyezi, noted that the alignment of the boundaries takes immediate effect.
Magyezi was responding to a letter by Kabale District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, dated 18th June 2024, in which he communicated the Kabale District Council resolution requesting to alter the boundaries of Bukora, Mwendo and Bwama Island parishes in Kitumba Sub County. The council had requested to transfer the villages of Bufuka and Katooma from Mwendo parish and villages of Kakooko, Kashambya and Kabumba from Bukoora Parish to Bwama Island parish.
Confirming the District council resolution, Magyezi said that Bwama Parish will now consist villages of Bufuka, Katooma Kakooko, Kashambya, Kabumba and Bwama Island. The Kabale District
Communications Officer, Alex Byakatonda, told our reporter that the Minister’s response has come at the right time and will help to improve service delivery to the residents of the villages around Lake Bunyonyi.
