Viral clip expose Kabale cathholic priest’s alleged sectarianism.

The Muko Parish Priest in Kabale Diocese, Rev Fr Eugene Odeda, has been accused by a section of the public of promoting political and religious sectarianism, following viral audio and video clips, in which he appeared to suggest that the catholic church resolved to support only candidates from the catholic faith.
The remarks captured by journalists and other individuals, were made recently during the launch of Kampala-Muko SACCO at Muko Parish in Rubanda District.
Fr Odeda remarked that the diocese had so far resolved that during the 2026 elections, they will support incumbents; Moses Kamuntu for Rubanda West MP, Henry Musasizi for Rubanda East MP, Steven Kasyaba for Rubanda District Chairpersonship, as well as Jackline Katabaazi for the Rubanda District Woman MP seat, which is currently occupied by Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi. He said the resolution was reached during a diocesan peace and justice committee meeting chaired by Rev Fr Balthazar Ndyomugabe.
But members of the public, including some from the catholic faith, have since described Fr Odeda’s remarks as divisive. Leopold Twesigye, Hope Rukaijakare, James Byekwaso, Agnes Success, Florence Tumwine and Allen Barengyerera, say religious leaders should promote unity and encourage people to choose leaders based on merit, instead of instilling divisionism.
When contacted, the Kabale Diocesan Vicar General, Msgr Dr John Vianny Sunday, said the diocesan leadership would ask Fr Odeda to explain his utterances.
