Mulago Private Wing Fees Spark Parliamentary Concern.

Members of Parliament have expressed concerns, following reports that high fees are being charged at the private wing of the Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital.
The Buhweju County Member of Parliament, Francis Mwijukye raised the issue yesterday stating that the high fees charged on women for consultation and antenatal care to delivery are unfair. Mwijukye said it is displeasing for a government funded hospital to charge 890,000 shillings for anesthesia, 800,000 shillings for antenatal care and 800,000 shillings for normal deliveries.
The Minister of State for Health in charge of General Duties, Anita Kawooya, pledged to follow up the alleged reports. The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among directed the relevant ministries to present action reports on resolutions within three months.
