Only 1 in 10 Ugandans Turn to Courts for Justice — Flavian Zeija
Only 10 percent of Ugandans access formal court services to seek justice, Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, has revealed.
Justice Zeija revealed this last evening while delivering a lecture to Faculty of Law students at Kabale University during a dinner held at White Horse Inn in Kabale District.
The dinner was organized by the students in collaboration with the university administration under the theme, “The Role of Lawyers Beyond the Courtroom.” Justice Zeija cited a study conducted last year by the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law, which revealed that roughly 90% of Ugandans resolve their disputes outside the formal court system.
He also urged law students to embrace the role of peacemakers, encouraging them to prioritize mediation over litigation to help society resolve conflicts.
