The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs has summoned four government officials stationed at Katuna One Stop Border Post to record statements with the Parliamentary Police after they skipped a scheduled border meeting despite being invited to address operational challenges.

The officials include the head of the Ministry of Trade at Katuna, Nebert Kamusingize, the head of Uganda National Bureau of Standards at Katuna, Simon Mwangye, Agricultural Inspector only identified as Dr. Tumukunde, and a veterinary representative whose details were not provided.

The committee summoned the officials yesterday after visiting the Katuna One Stop Border Post to assess cross-border security, trade, and the implementation of East African Community integration protocols, while gathering feedback from staff and local communities to inform recommendations to Parliament and the Government.

The committee’s Vice Chairperson, Bruce Balaba Kabaasa, directed the four officers to report to Parliamentary Police on Friday, warning that failure to appear would result in their arrest and forced appearance before the committee.
