Stray Elephant Kills Teenager in Kanungu
A stray elephant from Queen Elizabeth National Park, today morning killed a 15-year-old boy at their home in Kanungu District, residents and authorities have confirmed.
According to the deceased’s father Robert Kiiza, his son Clinton Birungi, a pupil at Kyentiija Primary School, was trampled and killed when the elephant found them sleeping in their grass-thatched house in Kameeme Cell, Kibimbiri Parish in Kihiihi Town Council, at around 5:00am.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, said the police were working with Uganda Wildlife Authority officials to investigate the matter.
