Aja Baryayanga’s Opponent Disqualified, Kabale NRM Polls Turn Violent
Chaos broke out at at Northern Division in Kabale Municipality, during the election of Finance Secretary mainstream, after discovering that Emmanuel Niwagaba alias Ichumu, who was contesting against former Kabale Municipality MP Andrew Aja Baryayanga, had not passed through the parish structures, as per the NRM guidelines.
The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma and the District NRM Registrar, Barbra Ainebyona, intervened, leading to Niwagaba’s disqualification.
Notable among the winners include Baryayanga, who won the Northern Division NRM Finance Secretary seat, former Rubanda District Chairperson, Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema who won the Hamuhambo Town Council NRM Party Chairperson seat, and Patrick Kiconco Katabazi won the Rwamucuucu Sub-County NRM chairmanship, while former Rukiga District Chairperson, Dr Alexander Kampikaho lost the Mparo Town Council NRM Chairperson seat to Amed Bende.
