Voter numbers increase across Kigezi region.
Voter populations have increased across Kabale, Rubanda and Rukiga districts, the Electoral Commission officials in the districts have revealed, following the recent voter register update.
In Kabale, the District Assistant Electoral Returning Officer, Ronald Niwamanya, told our reporter that the electorate has grown from 140151 in the 2021 general elections to 145,138 this year, an increase of 4,987 new voters. In Rukiga, the District Electoral Returning Officer, Rebecca Mbabazi, reported that the voter population has increased to 65,872 this year, up from 60,965 in 2021, an increase of 4,907 voters.
Meanwhile, Rubanda, has seen its voter population grow from 109,616 in 2021 to 114,549 this year, according to the District Assistant Electoral Returning Officer, Godfrey Arineitwe. However, Arineitwe clarified that the Rubanda figure is preliminary and subject to change, as his office is still processing the register display returns. According to the Electoral Commission, Ugandans will go to the general polls between January 12th and February 9th 2026.
