David Ssemujju advances in Africa championships
The road to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for the Ugandan boxing team, the bombers is still thorny as more boxers are falling off the path. David Ssemuju joined Alex Bwambale in the quarter-finals of the Africa Boxing championships ongoing in Dakar Senegal. However, Adnan Yasin’s Olympic dream was shattered by Nadir Abdelhaq of Morocco after three rounds of hard-hitting.
Ssemujju, the top seed in this category prevailed in a close contest, winning on a split decision.
The tournament, being organised by the International Olympic Committee Boxing Task Force owing to the suspension of the International Boxing Association as the governing body for the sport, is due to continue tomorrow, with the first of the quarter-finals taking place.
