Rubanda Parish Chief Returns 3.5 million shillings funds acquired from PDM beneficiaries.
The parish chief of Kagunga Parish in Bufundi sub-county of Rubanda district Theodore Bazaragye has reportedly refunded 3.5 million shillings which he had allegedly collected from Parish Development Model-PDM beneficiaries.
According to the Rubanda District Acting Resident District Commissioner; Eric Ssewandigi, Bazaragye who was detained at the weekend was forced to refund the money, following several complaints from affected beneficiaries. Ssewandigi said the suspect had collected 600,000 shillings from Edward Katwiiga, 300,000shs from Prossy Akampurira, 100,000shs from someone only identified as Ndyomugyenyi and 1million from a one Turyamwijuka among others.
Ssewandigi noted that Bazaragye was at the weekend released on police bond after recovering the money and his case handed over to the Chief Administrative Officer for further action. He told our reporter that they are still verifying all names of PDM beneficiaries to ascertain if there are other corruption cases. Ssewandidi implored members of the public to always report cases of corruption and embezzlement so that action can be taken against all errant public officers.
