35 year old man sentenced to 6 months in prison for threatening to kill his mother.

The Kabale Grade one Magistrates Court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge of threatening to kill his mother before he destroyed the property of his sister-in-law.

Court that was yesterday presided over by the Kabale Grade One Magistrate Julius Mutabazi heard from the prosecution that on December 28, 2023, while at Kabira village in Rukiga District, Barnet Agaba, a resident of Rwamucucu Sub County, with intent to intimidate, insult or annoy threatened to kill his mother, Penninah Kyomuhendo, after a domestic misunderstanding before he willfully and unlawfully damaged two doors of his sister-in-law, Violah Aharimisya, a resident of the same area.

Agaba asked court for a lenient punishment saying that he has young children to cater for and promised to apologize to his mother and sister-in-law and never to repeat such criminal actions. In his ruling, his worship Mutabazi said that since the convict did not waste court’s time and looked remorseful, he sentenced him to 6-months imprisonment. Court deducted three and a half months he has been on remand, meaning that he will serve a sentence of two and a half months.
