Kabale District Struggles to Pay 34 Million Shilling Fuel Debt incurred by LC5 C/M
Kabale District Local Government is grappling with an outstanding fuel debt amounting to UGX 34 million, allegedly incurred by Nelson Nshangabasheija, the LC5 Chairman.
The debt, which has remained unsettled for two years, was brought to light during the closed-door handover of Fred Kalyesubula, the outgoing Kabale district Chief Administrative Officer, to John Asiimwe at the district boardroom. Kalyesubula has been transferred to Buhweju district, while Asiimwe has moved from Rukiga to Kabale.
Kalyesubula’s handover report revealed that the district is accused of defaulting on the UGX 34 million debt owed to Agaba Fuel Station in Kabale municipality, owned by prominent businessman Peter Niwagaba.
