Residents question balloon-like objects on new power line.

A section of residents in Kabale and Rubanda districts are urging the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company (UETCL) to explain the purpose of balloon-like objects recently seen on the new 132Kv Mirama-Kabale-Karukara power line.
The residents who include; Agatha Tumuhimbise aka Muhara Weibabi, a resident of Kakore in Rubanda District, and Maxim Arineitwe and Herbert Agaba, both residents of Kabale District, told our reporter that the objects whose purpose is unclear have left them living in fear.
In response, the Site Manager for CCC International Engineering Limited, Julius Musinguzi, said that the objects are Aircraft Warning Device (Spheres) that are designed to make overhead lines visible to aircraft.
It also provides a cost beneficial means of reducing the hazard to both lines and air traffic. Musinguzi said that they elected the Spheres, following advice from the Civil Aviation Authority.
