Kabale Electricity Vandals Remanded to Luzira Prison.
5 suspects who were apprehended for damaging electricity infrastructure in Kabale District were presented before the Standards and Utilities Court on Monday and subsequently remanded to Luzira Prison, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma has confirmed.
The suspects are Elias Maziima, a student of Kabale University, John Mare and Fazil Kiwanuka alias Muganda, all residents of Kyanamira Sub County. Others are Posiano Twebaze, and Anna Ntegyerize, both scrap dealers and residents of Kabale Municipality.
The suspects are accused of stealing angle bars and bolts from the New Mirama-Kabale-Karukara Transmission Line. Nyakahuma said the suspects were on Friday last week transferred to Kampala, and were remanded by the Standards and Utilities Chief Magistrate Court until January 27ths, 2025, when they will re-appear before court.
The Officer-in-Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at Kabale Central Police Station, Hakimu Mukama, told our reporter that the prime suspects who are still on run, are believed to be employees of the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
