Kigezi Mourns Prominent Businessman Babweyaka

The business fraternity, leaders and residents in Kigezi Sub region have eulogized Vanansio Babweyaka, 76, a prominent businessman, who died on Friday at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.

Babweyaka, who succumbed to cancer, was today laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rwakayundo Village, Bushura Ward, Hamuhambo Town Council in Rubanda District. Speaking during the burial mass today, former Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, praised the late Babweyaka for promoting unity not only in Kigezi but in the whole country.

Presiding over the mass to pray for the deceased last evening, the Parish Priest of Muchahi Catholic Parish, Rev Fr Vicent Ankunda and his assistant, Fr Anthony Bemera, said the deceased was a pillar of Kabale Diocese, very humble, loving and soft spoken. George Byamukama, Adson Kakuru and Siriri Mugyenyi, said Babweyaka was a hardworking, trustworthy and humble man.

The State Minister of Finance in charge of General Duties and the Rubanda East MP, Henry Musasizi, praised the late Babweyaka for his unwavering support to the Church and community. Musasizi also said that Babweyaka will be remembered for advocating for the government’s takeover of Rakayundo Primary School.
