No Brooms, No Progress: Kabale Leaders Decry Tool Shortage on Cleaning Day
LC1 chairpersons in Central Division in Kabale Municipality, have said lack of cleaning equipment is hindering the implementation of the newly introduced National Cleaning Day.
The monthly government initiative requires communities to dedicate the last Saturday of every month to three hours of cleaning. The LC1 Chairperson for Hospital Cell Betty Kyomuhendo and Central Central Cell Chairprson Darison Kinahirwe said residents are reluctant to participate in the monthly exercise without basic tools and protective gear.
They said they lack items such as gloves, face masks, pangas, hoes and spades needed to mobilize communities for the exercise.
