Kabale Delegation Heads to Mbarara for City Lessons.
Kabale Municipality is embarking on a journey towards city status, with a delegation of political and technical leaders heading to Mbarara City today for benchmarking purposes.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor; Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha told our reporter that the delegation, led by the town clerk, aims to learn from Mbarara’s experiences in preparing for its own elevation to city status. Following the visit, a meeting with district authorities is scheduled on Friday to finalize preparations and establish city boundaries.
The Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma has urged local leaders to immediately begin preparations and deliberations to ensure a smooth transition.
The announcement of Kabale’s potential elevation has sparked excitement and anticipation among residents. However, some have raised concerns about the municipality’s readiness to handle the increased responsibilities and challenges associated with city status.
The Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development; Matia Kasaija and the Prime Minister Robbinah Nabanjja recently announced plans to elevate five more regional towns including Kabale, Nakasongola, Moroto, Entebbe and Wakiso to cities effective 1st July, 2025.
