Kabale Authorities Skeptical About Kigezi College Butobere’s Future

Authorities in Kabale Municipality have remained skeptical about the future of Kigezi College Butobere, despite the government releasing 3 Billion shillings to facelift the school.
The school that started in 1957 in Central Division is currently grappling with dilapidated structures and furniture, and this has resulted in the shrinking of the students’ enrollment from over 1000 students about 10 years ago to 210 students currently.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha said that in the last five Financial Years, government has been releasing funds to revamp the school.
However, the municipality authorities later get an order from government not to spend the money without clear reasons. Byamugisha said that they remain with doubts and concerns on if this money will this time serve the purpose.
The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma called for patience saying that since the money has already been released, the facelift will happen.
