5 candidates withdraw from Kisoro woman MP seat.

Five candidates have withdrawn from the National Resistance Movement-NRM party primaries for the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament seat by-election.

This was contained in yesterday’s letter issued by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson; Dr Tanga Odoi, after a meeting that was convened at the NRM Electoral Commission and attended by all the 13 candidates who had shown interest in the seat.
According to Odoi, the decision followed guidance from President Yoweri Museveni who doubles as the NRM Party National Chairman. The candidates who withdrew from the race include; Sylvia Dushime, Eva Twireze, Louise Niyikiza, Allen Nkurikiye and Aphia Nyiramaharo.
Those in the race include; Grace Akifeza, Winfred giraneza, Rose Kabagyenyi, Jemimah Irankunda, Blessed Kitentera, Irene Muhirwe, Hellen Mbonye and Nirere Brenda.
The Kisoro District Woman MP seat fell vacant last month, following the death of Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, who was also the State Minister of Defense and Veteran affairs.
