Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery is set to rebrand as Rugarama Hospital College of Health Sciences, a move aimed at expanding its academic scope beyond nursing and midwifery, the School Principal Darius Asiimwe has revealed.

In an interview with our reporter today, Asiimwe confirmed that the Rugarama Hospital Board has approved the new name, with the official rollout scheduled for the start of next semester. He explained that the current name has become too restrictive, noting that while the school began offering Diploma courses in 2022, the existing title limits their potential for academic expansion.

Asiimwe further said that the rebranding will allow the administration to broaden its curriculum to include specialized fields such as Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Laboratory Technology, and Ear, Nose, and Throat nursing- ENT nursing.  He added that the institution is currently in the final stages of the transition, with plans to finalize formal application and registration fees with the Ministry of Education and Sports before the semester ends in June.
